THE POSSESSION/ SCHOOL FOR DEAD GIRLS
Last week while reviewing ORLOFF AND THE INVISIBLE MAN I mentioned the fact that it was the second flick I'd seen that week where a chick gets fucked by something invisible. So here it is, the atrocious THE POSSESSION. It's volume six of Frank Henenlotter's Sexy Hardcore Shockers from Something Weird and is doubled up with the promisingly titled SCHOOL FOR DEAD GIRLS on a dvr for ten bucks.
THE POSSESSION begins with Rose and Adam( who looks like fan favorite Paul "Sex Bench" Snider) moving into their new house. Rose hears spooky noises and Adam mentions that some black dudes are cutting off some white guys' balls around the city, apparently pretty frequently. It doesn't really have anything to do with anything but whatever. Maybe it's social criticism of some sort. While Adam is at work, Rose goes into the backyard to masturbate where she is inviso humped or just diddled, it's hard to say since it's invisible. Meanwhile, Adam sorta fucks a woman in his office. I say sorta because you can't really tell. It seems to be a hardcore scene but the director was drunk or something and there are no good angles. It's almost like he couldn't decide to do hardcore or soft. I feel sorry for the sad motherfucker that paid to see this in a theater as he waited and waited for a scene to even bother jacking off to. So Rose gets fucked next by a big black dude's ghost while the ghost black girlfriend watches. I know what you're thinking, "Bwana, this sound awesome. What's wrong with you? You're acting like Gwyneth Paltrow." Trust me, it sounds better than it is. I don't know how high you would have to be for it to get good. Like super high on some kind of Caltiki mushroom. So apparently the black girlfriend ghost takes over Rose and fucks her ghost boyfriend who is named Jonathan, while the ghost girlfriend fucks Adam also. It's confusing but it doesn't matter. There's lots of cutting between the various couplings with a spooky Halloween soundtrack record plays. People look in the mirror a lot and seem confused. I don't know, maybe it's just some avant garde bullshit that is over my head. I kept wondering if any of these people are actually still alive and if they are do they even remember this. I'd guess it was made no later than 1975. For some reason there are weird domestic squabbling scenes around the breakfast table. The end has Rose/black girl ghost looking in the mirror while Adam has a super freakout in bed. He has some sort possession fit I guess. I thought maybe his balls were being cut off ghost style but you can't be sure. There's more humping with cuts between everyone involved and I got the impression maybe they exist in the mirror or some such voodoo bullshit. The print is well worn and adds to the bottom of the barrel grindhouse cinema feel.
For our next visit to the gutter you gotta ask yourself how much you love cover versions of the Eagle's song "Witchy Woman" because it plays at least three times in a hour. SCHOOL FOR DEAD GIRLS has a pretty nice title and while better than THE POSSESSION it still is way down there in quality. Down where? Way,way down there beyond Andy Milligan, oh fuck, way past him. But it is a fuck film, in that it's a hard core flick with a plot. Hard to call it a plot really, more a vague plot like impression. So we are given the impression that there is a school for bad girls which is run by the headmistess Mrs. Wellington. She has a creepy son who screws the girls as well as mommy, so there's some issues there. There's also another guy who does nothing but take out the trash and look menacing while the headmistress looks out the window at him. As these things go, the son kills some of the girls. I suppose that may be the trash the other guy takes out now that I think about it. One girl he tit fucks than suffocates with a plastic bag. Strangely enough he also bought her some flowers right before he killed her. He probably didn't think it through or he wouldn't have pissed the money away on the flowers. The mom spanks another girl and there's a girl-girl scene or two. The garbage taking out guy has had enough and warns a girl who runs off. I think the son turns on the mom and that's it. At least that's the impression I got. With both these cheap ass movies you keep waiting for some moments where it transcends to something odd enough to be interesting but it never really happens. I guess THE POSSESSION tries, at least it had some bizarre if pointless cutting. For this early 70's grindhouse porn you're better off with Zebedy Colt or Shaun Costello.
